Program Period:

Three of your graduation years are covered by the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program. Your Stanford home department will pay the remaining costs of your education to the extent that it is compatible with its usual financial commitment for that program if your degree program is longer than three years, such as an MD or PhD program, or a dual- or joint-degree program administered by Stanford.

How Do You Apply for Stanford University Scholarships?

Follow the following application instructions to win this scholarship:

  1. You must establish an account here before beginning your online application.
  2. You must fill up and submit the online admissions application (which includes personal and academic information). The institution will need basic biographical and demographic information, as well as descriptions of your hobbies and interests.
  3. You need to submit the following documents:
  • For each college or graduate school you attended for an academic year or more, include an unofficial or self-reported transcript demonstrating your academic achievement. You can get the self-reported transcript template if you are unable to supply an unofficial transcript. If relevant, your transcript has to state the degree awarded as well as the date of the award. Transcripts from study abroad programs are not required if your transcript already shows those credits.
  • A CV outlining your achievements and intellectual, personal, and professional history will be included. One page for each ten years of experience beyond high school is our rule.

  • Essay should include the following (a maximum of 1,750 words for both essays combined may be submitted):

  • How will you pursue your life’s purpose? How can your Stanford education and Knight-Hennessy Scholars experience help you achieve this?
  • Two quick responses: Please share eight unlikely facts about yourself. Please mention three goals/objectives that you are currently working towards (getting admission to Stanford and/or being picked as a Knight-
  • Hennessy Scholar cannot be considered one of their aims).
  • Video story: Your video should be no more than two minutes. If you simply need 30 seconds to respond, that is acceptable. You are not expected or obligated to talk for the maximum amount of time.
