Program Period:
Three of your graduation years are covered by the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program. Your Stanford home department will pay the remaining costs of your education to the extent that it is compatible with its usual financial commitment for that program if your degree program is longer than three years, such as an MD or PhD program, or a dual- or joint-degree program administered by Stanford.

Stanford University Scholarships offer the winner the following benefits:
- A travel stipend designed to cover one annual round-trip economy ticket to and from Stanford.
- A living and educational stipend (which includes housing and board, books, classroom materials, local transportation, and other personal expenses).
- A fellowship that is promptly sought to cover associated fees and tuition (in proportion to the typical departmental enrollment level).
- In general, the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program does not cover fees paid by your home department at Stanford for its students, such as subscriptions or lab equipment.
- Knight-Hennessy Scholars also may apply for supplemental funds to support academic endeavors (e.g. conference travel).
Qualifications for Scholarships at Stanford University
To qualify for Stanford University Scholarships, following is the eligibility criteria:
- Required Languages: English
- All nations worldwide are eligible to apply for the Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program.
- 2025 enrollment; first/bachelor’s degree obtained in 2018 or later. If you submit your application and enroll within five years of earning your first bachelor’s degree, you are able to apply within four years.
- You should possess the following qualities: mental acuity, curiosity, inventiveness, ability to make sense of unclear situations, and the capacity to hold dissenting or contrarian views.
- In addition to completing your Knight-Hennessy Scholars application, you must complete the whole application process, which includes completing any standardized exams (GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, and so on) and, if needed, an English language exam, that are required by your graduate degree program.
- You have to have a strong sense of ambition, be driven to grow as a person, and be willing to take risks. self-aware, tenacious, and capable of rising above adversity. Has a low ego, is personally humble and gentle, accepting of others’ differences, and cares about them.
- You must speak, read, write, and hear English fluently in order to enroll in classes at Stanford. The majority of Stanford’s graduate programs need a minimum TOEFL score of 600PBT, or 100iBT. All Stanford graduate programs accept the TOEFL, and the MBA program also accepts the PTE and IELTS. This page may teach you more about scores.
- To begin, in addition to applying to Knight-Hennessy Scholars, you must apply to, be accepted into, and enroll in a full-time Stanford graduate degree program. Each entering Knight-Hennessy Scholar must be a new student enrolled in a Stanford graduate program, such as the DMA, JD, MA, MBA, MD, MFA, MPP, MS, or PhD. There are no quotas for disciplines or programs. Please keep in mind that individuals who want to study at Stanford for at least two years will be given precedence.
